FAQ

At FOLIC we want to “clear the way” for you to come to church. Our desire is for you to be able to experience the presence of God through the praise and worship, the messages, warm and caring people and atmosphere of worship that are a part of FOLIC. We know that your first time at a church brings up questions. Here is a quick look at what you can expect.

1. What should I expect when I visit a service at FOLIC?

2. How long has FOLIC been established

3. What genres of worship are played?

4. How do I join?

5. Why do you have women in leadership?

6. What is going on when people are called to the front for prayer?

7. What ethnicities of people attend FOLIC?

8. Why do you ask me to complete a visitor card?

9. How does FOLIC approach tithes and offering?

10. What if I need help?

1. What should I expect when I visit a service at FOLIC? Expect the presence of God through His Holy Spirit. Expect to see people worshiping with freedom! FOLIC is not a traditional church. Prior to every service, we have pre-service prayer for those who wish to pray and usher in the Holy Spirit. During the praise and worship (music) at the beginning of each service, you may see children dancing in the front with banners, you may hear people playing tambourines, you may see adults dancing-- all different styles since we are a multi-cultural church-- but all to the Lord! You'll definitely hear shouting and praising the Lord. The service may not get past the praise and worship if the Holy Spirit leads. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit takes over and the Leadership spends the remainder of the service ministering to the people.

2. How long has FOLIC been established?

FOLIC is four years old. It began in our Senior Pastor's home and has grown rapidly.

3. What genres of worship are played?

Praise and Worship at FOLIC is exciting. You'll hear traditional hymnals, current popular Christian songs, cultural music from different nations such as Reggae, African, Indian, etc., revival music, serious worship song directed straight to Him, and the "Song of the Lord."

4. How do I join?

Prospective members expressing a desire to join in covenant membership with FOLIC will be advised to complete the appropriate form. A leader will meet with all prospective members. In order to ensure a mutual understanding, all prospective members will sign a statement of agreement with the mission and constitution of FOLIC. New members will be received at the next convenient public service and recognized by the church.

5. Why do you have women in leadership?

Because leadership positions are based on calling, gifting, and anointing, our leadership reflects both men and women irrespective of their race and social standing. We believe at FOLIC that both men and women can operate in any leadership position as well as the five-fold ministry of Apostle, Prophet, Teacher, Pastor, and Evangelist as long as they are called to it, and have demonstrated by their character that they are ready for the position.

"God is raising up women in ministry. Over the years women were not recognized in the five-fold ministry because Satan blinded man and caused them to teach that women are not called. God is bringing women into their rightful position. Before Jesus comes back for a pure church, this is one of the areas that must be dealt with and corrected. In fact, He is dealing with it now. Remember He said, "My daughters will prophesy." Prophesy means to preach in this context. There is neither male nor female. There is no gender in his kingdom."-- excerpt from

"There is (now no distinction) neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28.

6. What is going on when people go to the front for prayer?

At any time, during any event, the leadership may feel led or have divine revelation that someone in the audience has a need that needs immediate attention. They could need prayer for healing, life crisis, repentance, the baptism of the Holy Spirit and more. We always allow God to control the services. During this time, you may see people "fall" and someone "catches" them. They are not hurt and are only giving in to the ministering Holy Spirit. Most get up feeling "refreshed, revived and renewed."

7. What ethnicities of people attend FOLIC?

People who are hungry for what the Lord is doing in this day. We have 15 different nations represented among our membership. You will see people in their native dress, hear all kinds of spoken accents and see a variety of races at FOLIC. People at FOLIC come from all walks of life. It's awesome how God is bringing us all together from all over the world.

8. Why do you ask me to complete a visitor card?

Because we believe that you have visited by divine appointment and we want to make ourselves available to you if needed. If you're looking for a church home, we would love to visit with you about that. If you have a church home, then we want to thank you for visiting and encourage you to support your local body.

9. How does FOLIC approach tithes and offering?

Giving is a time of celebration! In the Old Testament, the people brought their gifts before the leaders. People are asked to bring their tithes and offerings to the front as a prophetic act. It also teaches our children that giving is a joyful time of laughing and dance.

10. What if I need help?

Feel free to approach any usher and ask for help. They will get you to the right person based on your need.
